Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday appointed former prime minister and party’s vice chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani PPP’s chief organiser.
A formal notification to this effect was issued by Chairman’s Secretariat.
According to details, Gillani’s responsibilities will include making a strong liaison within PPP, besides making a strong linkage with angry leaders and politicians of other parties and preparations of upcoming general elections with all the new energy and enthusiasm.
He will also be responsible for revamping the PPP’s election strategy to bring back the PPP diehards.
It might be mentioned here that Gillani had served as prime minister of Pakistan from March 25, 2008 to April 26, 2012. He had been in politics since he won 1988 general elections on the ticket of the PPP. He had also served the country as minister of tourism, speaker National Assembly, minister of housing and work force, minister of local government and rural development.
He was also arrested under Pervez Musharaf’s dictatorial rules in 2001.
Meanwhile, Bilawal Thursday strongly condemned suicide attack on a bus of security forces in Attock, in which two security personnel embraced martyrdom.
In a statement, the PPP chairman saluted the law enforcement agencies for valiantly fighting against terrorists and offering huge sacrifices
He expressed solidarity with families of martyrs and prayed for early recovery of those injured in the attack.
