ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that ‘some individuals’ do not want Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to triumph in general elections 2018 and hence ‘are hatching conspiracies’.
“Some individuals do not want us to retain power and NAB cases also aim to seek the same,” Nawaz said while speaking to the media outside the accountability court in Islamabad.
The former PM added that despite ‘conspiracies’, PML-N is on its way to retain power. “The general elections are not Senate elections where results could be bought. Here, the public decides our fate,” Nawaz added.
Speaking about Avenfield case against the Sharif family, Nawaz said that Panama JIT head Wajid Zia has revealed all the ‘facts’. “I am not alleged of any sort of corruption, but still the motives are to punish me. They only want to punish me, but have no logical grounds for punishment,” Nawaz added.
Nawaz further said that the public now knows what the truth is. He added that Wajid Zia did not have an answer when he was asked about evidences against the Sharif family, while the Supreme Court (SC) ousted the former PM on basis of Iqama and ‘imaginary’ pay.
