LAHORE: The Punjab government and the Chinese province Hubei Houchangan have agreed to promote cooperation in diverse fields on sustainable grounds.
The understanding came at a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and a Chinese delegation led by Communist Party of Hubei Houchangan secretary here on Friday.
The two sides formed a joint committee to recommend measures to promote bilateral cooperation.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision of ‘One Belt One Road’ would benefit the entire region.
Houchangan said that concrete steps taken by the Punjab government had made the province economically strong.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) is playing an effective role to improve the efficiency of departments.
He stated this while addressing a meeting to review the performance of the commission on Friday.
PPSC Chairmen Sajjad Akram briefed the meeting about the performance of the commission.
Separately, the chief minister has said that the Punjab government is committed to eliminating tuberculosis. In a statement on World Tuberculosis Day, the chief minister said that proper medication, good nutrition and healthy environment could help cure the disease.
He directed officials concerned to take effective measures to ensure TB vaccination to all and sundry.
