ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakria on Saturday said that Pakistan wanted a meaningful, sustainable and result-oriented dialogue with India on the Kashmir issue.
“Pakistan initiated a composite dialogue with India in the past, but the latter did not show seriousness in resolving the issue,” he told PTV.
He said that Pakistani and international media had highlighted the Indian atrocities and barbarism against innocent Kashmiris.
Nafees Zakria said one million Indian troops and paramilitary forces were present in Kashmir.
“We cannot initiate talks with India in such circumstances in the valley,” he said.
He said that the international community had been putting pressure on India to stop cruelties against the people of Kashmir. “Pakistan has highlighted Indian atrocities against the innocent people of Kashmir at all international forums. We want an immediate end to the human rights violations and bloodshed in Indian-held Kashmir,” he said.
The spokesperson said that India was trying to change the demography of Kashmir by settling retired Indian army soldiers in the valley.
“Kashmiris are determined to win their right of freedom, right to self determination as per resolutions of the United Nations,” he said.
