KARACHI: The ongoing hunt for the knife attack suspect, so far responsible for injuring 15 women within the past two weeks in the city, has been handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), police sources confirmed on Saturday.
The CTD officials have deployed a case team to work out ways of capturing the suspect, according to reports.
Even after a fresh series of knife attacks on women, concentrated mainly in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal regions, the attacker remains uncovered, dodging arrest and baffling the authorities.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah claimed on Friday that the knife attack suspect has been identified to be the same person who was responsible for similar attacks in Punjab’s Chichawatni area.
Meanwhile, extra measures are being taken by the police to catch the accused through geo-fencing and probing the already arrested suspects.
On Friday, a woman spotted a ‘suspicious-looking’ man near Maskan Chowrangi, calling police to the site. The man was thoroughly searched but to no avail.
The very same day, police arrested a ‘suspicious’ man from the vicinity of a mobile market near Jauhar Mor.
The incidents have left citizens with a serious question as to whether the attacks are being carried out by an individual or a group
In an attempt to protect those within their boundaries, the University of Karachi has banned motorcyclists from wearing a helmet which has caused much of a hassle for students riding into the University.
The attacker reportedly attacks with his left hand using a sharp object, wears a helmet and rides a red motorcycle.
