ISLAMABAD: State Interior Minister Tallal Chaudhry on Monday said that the arrest of Nawaz Sharif’s son in law, Captain (rtd) Safdar on a non-bailable warrant was just a ‘routine matter’ but it could have been avoided.
Speaking to the media, he said that the government just wanted to show that we not only speak about the law, we want it to be implemented too.
“I think it was very unnecessary for NAB to arrest a person who has just returned to Pakistan to face the charges brought against him, but because of the legal complexity of this issue at this point we haven’t raised any objection,” said Chaudary.
“There are many absconders who speak about the rule of law but never face the court, some have made excuses and even ran away from the court. Even after having serious reservations over JIT and the current accountability trial we are still appearing before it” he added.
