GUJRANWALA: Punjab Minister for health Khawaja Salman Rafique paid a visit to District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital Gujranwala, inspected different wards and enquired about the incident of a five-year-old boy allegedly refused a hospital bed by the administration on Tuesday. The provincial minister, while speaking to media, said he had constituted a committee comprising of a medical college principal and Gujranwala commissioner and directed that a complete report in this regard may be put up within three days. He said Punjab chief minister had taken notice of the incident and strict action would be taken against the responsible. Punjab Secretary Health Najam Shah, MS Dr. Anwar Aman, divisional and district administration and other officers accompanied the minister. Rafique also inspected the child ward, MRI centre, CT scan centre and issued directives to the hospital administration for improvement in those wards.
Meanwhile, Gujranwala Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Tariq Kareem said there was no place for corrupt elements in PHA. “We need honest and hard workers who serve the citizens in a good manner”, he said while speaking with Daily Times. He said PHA Employees Union President Abid Bhinder was not an employee of PHA anymore and had been working on contract basis before being dismissed on corruption charges. Tariq Kareem said the PHA had showed tremendous results despite having limited resources. All officers and staff had been working hard as a team to achieve the goal of a green Gujranwala, he said.
