Legal formalities completed for Hammad Siddqiui’s extradition

LAHORE: Legal formalities have been completed for the extradition of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) member Hammad Siddiqui, the prime accused in the Baldia Town inferno case 2012.
According to reports, Pakistani officials will go to Dubai to bring the accused back to Pakistan. For this purpose, legal documents have been handed over to diplomatic officials.
Siddiqui traveled to Dubai in 2013 after the cancellation of his membership from the party for violating party discipline. There he joined Al Takatuf General Trading (LLC) as the market manager in 2014.
He was also accused of multiple crimes and is wanted by the Pakistani authorities. An anti-terrorism court (ATC) ordered the authorities to arrest the accused with Interpol’s help. Following the court orders, the Interior Ministry also issued a red warrant against Siddiqui.
Bhola, one of the suspects in the Baldia Town incident, was also arrested in Thailand with Interpol’s help and he confessed that he started the fire on Siddiqui’s instructions.
Bhola claimed that the motive behind their actions was non-payment of Rs 250 million of ‘bhatta’.
Around 260 labourers were killed in the incident on September 11, 2012.
