President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday telephoned caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk and asked to ensure ‘complete medical treatment’ for ousted premier Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, a medical team Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) was sent to Adiala Jail, when the doctors within the Adiala Jail premises had said that the uric acid in Nawaz’s blood is too high and can result in kidney failure. They recommended that he be shifted to a hospital with immediate effect.
Showing concern over the situation, the president said that Nawaz should be provided with complete medical treatment.
On July 6, an accountability court had sentenced ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison over his family’s purchase of London’s Avenfield apartments. Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to 7 years while her husband Captian (r) Safdar Awan was handed one-year jail term.
On July 13, Maryam and Nawaz was arrested from Allama Iqbal International Airport upon their arrival and shifted to the Adiala jail later.
