LAHORE: Pir Syed Kaleem Ahamd Khurshid has been elected as the new president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for the year 2017.
Safdar Husain Tarrar has been elected as the SCBA secretary. According to unofficial results, Pir Kaleem of Independent Group beat Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari of Profession Group. Pir Kaleem bagged 1,145 votes and Hafiz Ansari 1,062 votes.
Safdar Hussain Tarar of Independent Group secured 1098, whereas his opponent Mian Muhammad Aslam obtained 638 votes.
Independent Group candidate Qamar Zaman Qureshi was elected as vice president on the Punjab seat.
The polling started at 8:30am and continued till 5:00 pm. The polling was held at eleven polling stations established in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbotabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkhur and Hyderabad, where as many as 2989 members cast their votes.
