ABBOTTABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that progress of the country is being hampered through raising false slogan of corruption, saying that all false slogans, claims and words will be rejected in general elections 2018.
She was expressing these views while addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly elected members of Abbottabad Press Club on Tuesday, she said that specialized trainings are being organized at national and provincial level for capacity building of journalists.
She said that the government is making all out efforts for welfare and protection of journalists. She said that the government is introducing Access to Information Bill for ensuring transparency in governance.
Marriyum said that journalist community has played a vital role in the country`s fight against extremism and terrorism. She called upon the journalists to use their pens and cameras for imparting positive image of the country.
She said that legislation is being made for protection of the journalists, saying that proposals have been received from federal union of journalists in this regard. She said that three to five years programme is being started for the journalists wherein the training and enhancing of capability of stakeholders at the clubs level and scholarships for the journalists is being arranged in universities of the country, saying that this system will be implemented on the level of Information Services Academy and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
She also ensured the journalists that proper legislation is being done for their security and welfare and let it be known that first draft has been completed in this regard. She said that specialized trainings are being organized at national and provincial level for capacity building of journalists. She said that the country is treading on the road to progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying that now politics cannot be separated from performance.
She said that Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) could make government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) if prime minister wanted to do so, saying that there is no danger to the prime minister (PM) who has been elected third time as PM of the country. Marriyum said that the people of KP will reject the ‘liars’ in 2018 elections. She further said that the political opponents talked about sit-ins, lockdowns, hindering the way of prosperity and once again raised false slogans of corruption, saying that we have leant a lesson from the politics of the decade of 1980-90 that progress of the country cannot be stabilised through weakening the institutions. She said that let’s become arms of PM and politics should be done for the sake of rights of people of the country.
She said that the whole world is calling China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a game changer as it connects 65 countries through Gwadar port. She said that load shedding problem is being addressed on emergency basis and the ongoing development projects in the country will help overcome the energy problem.
Marriyum said that whole network of roads and motorways is being laid across the length and breadth of the country. She said that every possible effort is being made to ensure the availability of best health facilities to the people.
In this regard the Sehat cards will soon be issued in remaining areas of the country under the Prime Minister`s Health Program. She said that CPEC project will be game changer for Pakistan as well as for the whole region linking together different countries of the region.
